Angelic Visions challenges the canonized Christian depiction of angels over the past millennium and offers more Judaic inspired and ethereal manners of approaching the subject matter.

Through much of the history of Christian art, the model for angels has been based in Roman religious archetypes that featured winged cherubs and “cupids.” While there is basis for a visual description of angels in the Torah (five books of Moses), Judaism has long prohibited the creation and display of the physical forms of G-d and celestial beings.

Although there are references to the physical manifestations of G-d in Torah, Talmudic discussion reiterate that these types of physical descriptions represent intangible concepts and are not to be understood as literal. When this same theological point extends to the representation of angels, the visualization of angels as individual armored human-esque “super hero” beings gives way to the concept of angels as intense spiritual forces.
